Our girls football program was launched 2 seasons ago after picking up steam with the addition of our girls ‘drop in sessions’ and the debut season for our Sale United Ladies open age team! 

We have entered our teams into the South Manchester Girls Junior Football League for 19/20 season and will be looking to add more teams in the coming seasons. 

Training and games are weekly and we look forward to welcoming u7/u8, u10, u12 and u13 girls to our club!

A brief history of girls football at SUFC:
Sale United is proud to be the first club in Trafford to have fielded an ‘all girls’ side at Under 10 in the Timperley & District Mixed Gender League in 2001. At the time several eye-brows were raised and the team experienced some heavy losses. However at the end of that season we managed to arrange a friendly with a girls’ team from Northwich and our girls scored an emphatic win.
Sale United formulated several Girls’ teams and were inaugural members of the South Manchester Girls League where they enjoyed much success.
Significantly, Lauren Dowdy, one of the coaches assisting with this program, was a member of that first team from 2001, so has a keen interest in ensuring Sale United once again has its own teams competing regularly.
